Video Abstract
From another point of view, in an internal paper reported by Bloomberg, OpenAI defined a growing functional evolution of intelligent systems:
- The first level, which is to be considered achieved, is the conversation
- The second level is reasoning and is evolving
- The third level is that of operational AI agents, capable of performing articulated actions on behalf of the user
- It follows the level ofinnovation: these are machines that can innovate, that is, invent solutions not contained in the information with which it was trained
- At the culmination of the functional evolution of intelligent systems, the advent of organizational systems, that is, systems capable of coordinating multiple people, as in a human company or institution, is expected
Against this backdrop, the need for human intelligence to react and take action to manage such a far-reaching cognitive technology clearly emerges.
The dominant debate actually focuses today mainly on the effects of AI on human activities and professions, giving rise to discussions about which skills and professions will be replaced, which joined, and which finally created by the advent of Artificial Intelligence.
We want here by contrast to focus on the much less discussed but, according to the thesis and reflections underlying this vitally important work for human culture and intellect, of how AI will have to be governed and led to bring about an evolution of the forms of human intelligence and hopefully its extension. Grasping at this time of great change the need to imagine new forms and extensions of human intelligence can decisively help humans keep the rudder of change in their own hands and govern it by preventing drifts with unpredictable outcomes.
