From its inception and naming, the World Wide Web has declared its universality, and has fueled the myth of an instantly accessible global media library.
This vision is partly realized, but time has not yet abolished a fundamental barrier: language differences. For example, for most Italians, reading content in a foreign language is still de facto inaccessible.
However, the situation is evolving, especially with artificial intelligence that is making machine translation increasingly effective. Several digital platforms, such as social media, browsers, and search engines, already allow content to be translated. The quality of translations is improving, and in a few years it will be respectable.
So it should be recognized that the network offers considerable potential resources. But there are many dark sides, which we now want to explore.
