Gualtiero and Roberto Carraro
The authors, brothers Gualtiero and Roberto Carraro, have been working in digital since the 1980s, coming from studies in theoretical philosophy and contemporary art.
They have won eleven international awards for digital culture, from the Frankfurt Book Fair to the Icom World Museum Association. As authors they have published more than 150 multimedia works, including the Omnia encyclopedia, a best seller in Europe, and the Rome Virtual History App presented by Steve Jobs and entered the top ten sales in Apple’s App store in the US.
The Carraro twins are also inventors of digital technologies: they have filed numerous patents, most recently on AI, and developed innovative solutions such as Street View-introduced in 2005, anticipating Google-or such as the first immersive tablet application, Bubble Viewer, in 2011.
In the field of contemporary art, they have exhibited at the Venice Biennale, in the Ubiqua planetary network, and at Kassel Gruppenkunstwerke with the visual research“Pictomatica.”
Their applications were presented on two occasions to the EU commission: Brixia Time Machine exhibited by Google Cultural Institute in 2017 to the EU parliament and the Meta Tourism exhibition shown to Commissioner Breton in 2023.
They have collaborated with the Vatican for two Jubilees and with the Bibleworld App presented in the Vatican press room.
Artificial Intelligence solutions were presented in 2024 at Unesco – Regenerative Arts and History – and G7 – AInfluencer Virgil.
Gualtiero and Roberto Carraro with Carraro Lab and several of their startups have created innovative digital platforms such as the Expo 2015 virtual tour and XR Edulab, for immersive education, adopted by hundreds of educational institutions.
Engaging in the invention and patenting of innovative technological solutions for the integration of Extended Reality and Artificial Intelligence are the most recent strands of the Carraro twins’ activities.
The vision ofHomo Extensus was born as a cultural, pedagogical and artistic movement.
